#10974 3 Dogs Arcade Site Rules

Posted by Legionaire on 03 January 2014 - 09:12 AM

Attached File  Cartoon-bulldog-clipart-clipartfest-2.gif   9.67KB   0 downloads  WELCOME to 3 Dogs Arcade (The Dog Pound)

Here at 3 Dogs arcade, like any other site, we have rules and below you will find a list of those rules. This is not an all inclusive list, but one that pretty much highlights what our site is about and how we like to run our site Please familiarize yourself with these rules, and if you agree with them, Welcome to our home, if you do not agree with our rules, I am sure you will find another place on the internet, and we do hope that you enjoy your stay no matter where it might be.

FORUMS - We encourage member participation in the forums, but it is not a requirement that you post here. Member participation will encourage others to join us here and makes for a better site.

  • Swearing - Swearing in the forums or any other area of the site is forbidden, we attempt to run a family site here and with that, we try and keep it safe for children visitors to the site. We do realize that on occasion a swear word will slip out, not a problem we all do it, but, for those who continue to "slip" you will be warned by a member of the staff and subsequently banned from the site if it were to continue.
  • PORN - Will absolutely not be tolerated on this site anywhere. Any posting of PORN or links to porn of any kind will prompt an immediate ban from the site and your IP will be turned over to the appropriate authorities
  • Posting - Please keep in mind that this is a family site and that children may visit at anytime, make your posts with children in mind, what would you want your children subject too ?  IF you are the owner of more than one site and are requesting support, please let us know which site you need support for.
  • SHOUTBOX - The shoutbox is utilized on this site for chatting with other members and therefore promoting good times, it is not a place where you can request support, that is what the forums are for, so please do not request support in the shoutbox Swearing, porn and posting in the shoutbox, follow the same guidelines as set above for the forums

ARCADE - The arcade is obviously the main focus of our site. We have over 9000 games on this site with the ability to add more games at the click of a button. We try and be as fair as we can with the arcade, and reset scores from time to time (Hall Of Fame scores do not get deleted). This is where most of our rules come into play, so bear with us and read these rules carefully, if you have any questions about these, or any of the rules for this site, feel free to contact a member of the staff.

  • SHADOWING - Is against the rules on this site. Shadowing, as defined by our site is when a member(s) follow another member around playing the same games. This is not only annoying but is not fair to the member(s) that you are following. To try and alleviate "shadowing" we give a member a 1 hour gloating period. What this means is that if a member (any member) has just posted a score, give them at least an hour before playing the same game. We are all about competition and it is not against the rules to play the same games as another member, but do it with respect for other members. We have over 9000 games here and it should not be difficult to find another game to play for an hour.  IF YOU ARE BEING SHADOWED AND IT ANNOYS YOU, YOU NEED TO LET US KNOW, WE CANNOT DO ANYTHING IF YOU DO NOT SAY ANYTHING.
    • FIRST OFFENSE - 24 hour ban from the arcade
    • SECOND OFFENSE - 48 - 72 hour ban
    • THIRD OFFENSE - BANNED permanently from the arcade
  • Games that appear in the NEW GAMES category are OPEN PLAY for the time that they appear in that category (normally 5 days) this means that there are no restrictions for games in that category (shadowing rules do not apply in the new games category)
  • CHEATING - Is not tolerated here by member or staff. Just because you cannot beat a score that has been set by another member, or you have not see a score that high on any of the other sites you have visited, or they regain a score on a game that you thought the score could not get any higher on, does not necessarily mean that they are cheating. IF you suspect another member or staff member of cheating, please PM one of the administrators and we will investigate the incident.
  • GAMES NOT WORKING - IF you happen to come across a game that is not functioning correctly (not loading, not saving scores etc...) please use the Report Game link that is found with every game on the site. This will create a post in the forum which will assist me in keeping track of games that have been reported and what had to be done to resolve the issue.
  • POINTS SYSTEM - We have a points system that we use for the Arcade. You can win points in the arcade and use them to buy special items in the ibEconomy shop (still being implemented) such as name color. We do not have ibEconomy entirely set up, but it is coming. Another way to earn points is by participation in the forums. At some point in the near future, the only way you will be able to play games in the arcade will be determined by the number of points you have in your account.

As stated above, this is not an "all inclusive" list of all the rules on this site, and we will update these rules from time to time. It is your responsibility to be familiar with these rules, so please keep checking back for any possible changes. Once again if you have any questions regarding these rules, feel free to contact a member of the staff, welcome to 3 Dogs arcade, we hope you enjoy your stay

#75605 NEW HTML5 Games

Posted by Legionaire on 22 August 2018 - 02:46 AM

Thanks to Origon and Blake over at https://www.origon-games.dk/

We have added 235 more HTML5 games to the site, all of these games have new submit code added to them to allow submission of the game scores as if they were flash games, in other words, they do not submit scores in the background.  You can check these games here in the HTML5 Games by Origon category in the arcade

These games currently are not being offered for download per an agreement I have with Origon, but please give them a try and visit Origon's site at the address above and see how you can also get the games for your site.

Once Origon gives the go ahead to allow downloads, they will be available here for the VIP's to download

#74899 General question

Posted by Legionaire on 29 July 2018 - 03:07 AM

There are about 60,000 flash games and 300 html5 games most of which are full of adverts this spoils gameplay

The number of HTML5 games available are rising each day, in the very beginning of this arcade, way back when, how many games (flash) do you think were available for your site ?  It is like with anything new, over time it get's better and better.  Some of the new arcades that are being built under different forum styles are bending over backwards to take out things such as adverts, links that go to another site, even going to the point to eliminate tracking cookies, so the games are getting better, like anything else, it takes some time to "iron out" the bugs.  I get and understand what you are saying, lord knows if flash was not "going away" I would rather stay with something I know as well (namely this arcade) but the truth of the matter is, at some point, it will end as that is what the guru's in the internet business want to happen.

Anyway, I just wanted to address this point as it is something that annoyed the crap out of me as well (all of the adverts in the HTML5 games), if you have not at least tried some of the HTML5 games on my other site, you should at least pop in and give them a try, they are much much better than they were in the beginning

Thanks again for your response, and hope you do not take this as an attack on your post

#80117 Mahjong World Contest Level 09

Posted by Legionaire on 22 November 2018 - 07:36 AM

You are about to file a report on Mahjong World Contest Level 09 please ensure that you provide as much data as possible to help us in resolving the issue for which you are reporting this game

This series of games is just like the gem legends were, if you play a different level each time, your score will continue to increase adding the highest points you have set (on any other level) and adding them to the points you have obtained on your current level

Games beginning with numbers (i.e. 10x10) and beginning with the letter "A" through "D" have the new code already embedded, working on the rest as I have time

#78228 NEW HTML5 Games

Posted by Legionaire on 27 October 2018 - 02:30 PM

For those of you who have downloaded HTML5 games from the origon category and are using a sub forum where those games do not seem to submit, thanks to Blake at Origon's site, I now have a new submit code that will allow the games to submit a score whether you are in a root forum or sub forum.  It will take me some time to convert them all over to the new code, but I will begin working on that soon

#76383 For those who use apache for their web server read this

Posted by Legionaire on 09 September 2018 - 06:15 AM

it has been brought to my attention that some problems with new games may be caused by apache itself.  Apache does not set case-insensitive on the server, what this means is that if a folder is tagged as using en-us and apache looks for en-US then it does not load the files correctly.  There is however, a global fix for this that can be found here

http://www.osguides....nsensitive.html

Now no one expects every admin of a site to know how to do this, GOD knows I did not, but if you pass the information on to your hosting provider they should be able to do this for you, once this is done there should be no more problems with games, well except for incorrect submission codes etc....

One game this affected, which brought lite to the fact that the above data (provided in the link) would correct this problem

You do not have to do this as it may only affect a few games, but for all of them to work correctly, then perhaps you would want to get this done, who knows it may clear up some issues with other games that did not load correctly

as a quick fix, you can this to your .htaccess file on your forum root

<IfModule mod_speling.c>
    CheckSpelling On
    CheckCaseOnly On
</IfModule>

There are a number of games that may not load correctly in all of the new games just added, I am working on the fix that Origon has given me, it will take some time to check them all, but eventually we will get them all operational, please keep the broken game reports coming which will help in isolating some of the games that are not working correctly

#75228 General question

Posted by Legionaire on 15 August 2018 - 02:28 AM

As I told Bill, I have nothing bad to say about him or the way he runs his site, I refuse to get into the mud slinging on who did what.  He makes a very good arcade and for that I give him credit.  We all have our own opinions of each other, I am sure there are many who do not care that I encode the arcade files, that is something I told Sykoect that I would do when he entrusted the arcade script to me.  I am sure there are 2 sides to every story, not saying anything bad about anyone, but one war starts with one misunderstanding.

I only want to have a good entertaining site that anyone who joins here does not have to be mixed up in the "behind the scenes" drama that the internet produces, everyday, not for just you and I, but for anyone that is on the internet, we are all susceptible to the every day grind that is the internet.

I always here about someone stealing games, but all of those games came from somewhere else to begin with, and at the same time I understand that a LOT of work is put into converting those games to work on different versions of the arcade.  I do not have the skills to convert games, but if I did, it would be for the entertainment of all.  I think the biggest problem is that there is not one standard for all arcades, in other words if it works on ibPro Arcade, it should also work on any other arcade, but the standards are so different from one arcade to another, that at some point, the war begins.

Anyone is welcome here on my site (spammers excluded :) ) and I do what I can to support them in anyway that I can, but I will not be swayed by the "behind scenes" drama of the internet of what I should or should not do.

So with all that being said, I will continue to be me whether or not I am included on your journeys on the internet does not matter, the door will always be open, and hopefully I will still be here, to help any and all who need it, if I can

#69269 A new style Arcade

Posted by Legionaire on 28 March 2018 - 03:51 AM

For the past couple of weeks I have been testing a new type of arcade, one that runs on the phpBB software platform and I gotta tell you, it is pretty good.  With the direction that IPB has gone and the inability to change over to their new coding structure (and no one to help) I have been seriously looking at dropping the arcade here and moving on.  This board will remain open for as long as I can keep it that way, and I will still support the arcade as it is right now.  I have gone about as far as my skills will let me go with the additions that have been made to the arcade for IPB.  IF anyone is interested in taking a look at the new (or possibly new) arcade let me know and I will get you set up with an account and PM your details to you.

There are a few benefits to moving to phpBB

  1. phpBB forum software is FREE and most of the modifications that are made to support the board are FREE
  2. The Arcade is FREE but has advertisements that pop up when a user goes to play a game that can be circumvented with a donation to the site (15 euros for a donor membership or 35 euros for a VIP membership both of which are good for one (1) year) which is reasonable for the amount of work that has been put into the arcade
  3. The arcade supports several types of game structures, but most importantly it supports the submit score functionality of the IBPro score submissions (meaning all of the games you have now, will work on this arcade)
  4. HTML5 games submit scores as if they were flash, no longer do you have to wonder if the game submitted a score in the background, you get the same confirmation when a game submits a score whether it is flash or HTML5
  5. There a few options for a decent shoutbox and points system
  6. Challenges and Tournaments are supported, just as they are here
  7. Game reports (for games not functioning correctly)
  8. Game downloads and the ability to edit games are supported from the main page of the arcade (while in the game listing)

Anyway, that is just some of the functionality of the phpBB arcade, as I said above, if you are interested, let me know and I can build you an account so you can take a peek or you can go to http://thedogpoundarcade.com and register there and I will approve your account as soon as I can

#44070 Games not showing in your profile

Posted by Legionaire on 29 November 2016 - 12:24 AM

There have been a few that have noticed that their games are no longer showing in their profiles (Arcade Profile tab).  You can change the setting that not only allows you to see your games / scores, but will allow other members to see them as well,  Follow these two easy steps to show your games in your profile

Attached File  noscores.jpg   29.92KB   0 downloads

Attached File  noscores2.jpg   63.79KB   0 downloads

There are now other settings that you can set there as well such as the order the games are shown in, how they are shown (by date added, number of games to show per page, games to show per row etc...)

IF you do not want others to see what games you have scores on, you can leave the profile set to no and look at "Your Rankings" (tab provided on the arcade navbar) which will show your top 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place games

My opinion...
Flash will be in demand for some more time! The fact that HTML takes over is likely, and you need to stick to the trend. But you do not need to reset the flash. At least, what is already in the module-you do not need to throw out, and innovations - you need to integrate!
My opinion!

#38347 The next adventure

Posted by Legionaire on 24 December 2015 - 02:07 PM

With the cost of IPS getting higher and higher every year (renewals, mods etc...) and IPS 4.0 not something I really care for, I have opened up another site using VBulletin and some of the great mods from DragonByte technologies.  I was lucky enough to purchase VBulletin before their prices began to rise, and the mods from DragonByte I got at a substantially reduced price by being one of their testing personnel.

There are a lot of people that do not like VBulletin for one reason or another, but they do not charge a six month fee for their software and they do provide support for all of their software from VB 3 all they way through VB 5 (their latest software).  Most of the mods that you use with IPS can be found at vbulletin.org and for the most part they are FREE.  Don't get me wrong, there are some paid mods, and most of the skins are not the quality that you find with IPS but they work just fine.

So with all of this being said, I have opened up the Dog Pound Arcade utilizing VBulletin.  If you have the chance stop by and let me know what you think about the new setup
